Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors

An introduction to basic design elements and principles and experience with a variety of art media and techniques. This class must be completed before taking most other art classes.

#115 Drawing 1 semester 1/2 unit
PREREQUISITE: Fundamentals of Art-- Recommended for sophomores, juniors, or seniors who have taken Fundamentals of Art.

Drawing is an in-depth study of aesthetics in art. Students will research various topics and create original works of art using a variety of media and techniques.

A lab fee is assessed.

PREREQUISITE: Fundamentals of Art-- Recommended for sophomores, juniors, or seniors 

Students will study the art of painting using watercolors and acrylic techniques.

#226 Ceramics 1 1 semester 1/2 unit
Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors

A course designed to introduce the ceramist to the various clay materials available and methods in which to use them. Hand built methods for constructing pottery and glazing techniques will be taught.

A lab fee is assessed.

 

 

#269 Sculpture 1 semester 1/2 unit
Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors

A course designed to generate personal creative expression through 3-dimensional media. A wide range of methods and materials such as soapstone, plaster, wire, clay, and paper mache' will be presented.

#276 Ceramics 2 1 semester 1/2 unit
PREREQUISITE: Ceramics 1-- juniors and seniors

Students will expand upon their previous background in ceramics 1. Emphasis is placed on form and creativity of pieces with an introduction to throwing on the wheel.

#313 Visual Art of TV Production of School News 1 semester 1/2 unit
PREREQUISITE: Completion of #216-- Introduction to the History and Use of TV/Video Technology or approval of the Instructor.

This Course is designed to familiarize students with the production of school announcements. This class will be responsible for producing all morning announcements and airing them over the school's TV system. Students will be involved both in front and behind the camera. Special features will be produced on current events occurring both locally and worldwide. Students are expected to attend 2 after school activities for filming and producing purposes as assigned by the instructor. 

 

 

#375 Art History 1 semester 1/2 unit
Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

This course focuses on the study of art history from cave paintings to modern day. Projects emphasize time periods.

#376 Ceramics 3 1 semester 1/2 unit
PREREQUISITE: Ceramics 2-- Seniors only

Ceramics 3 is an advanced pottery class that may be taken after the successful completion of Ceramics 2. Total emphasis is placed on wheel thrown projects.

#467 Studio/Portfolio/Painting 1 year 1 unit
PREREQUISITE: Fundamentals of Art and Beginning Drawing-- Seniors only 

This course is for the serious art student.

This class is designed for the serious art students. Each students will plan most of his/ her own assignments using a variety of drawing, acrylic and watercolor painting, collage, and printing techniques. Each student will be required to prepare a professional portfolio of his/ her best work.

#468 Computer Graphics 1 semester 1/2 unit
PREREQUISITE: Senior Students

Computer Graphics is an advanced level art course using software program Corel Draw. Students will be taught to utilize fine art techniques and graphic design layouts on the computer.
