This course includes a reinforcement of basic keyboarding skills using Micro Type Pro keyboarding software, emphasizing the touch system. Students will use the computer to develop/ reinforce the touch system of keyboarding. Students will learn the basics of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Power Point through the use of ElementK and classroom activities. Students also learn the basics of computers including computer terminology and ergonomics. Students work independently and are responsible for completing the software applications and for their conduct/ work ethic. A course fee is assessed. |

This course concentrates on the more advanced levels of the software used in Computer Applications 1. Students have the opportunity to complete additional levels of Word, Excel, and Power Point through the use of ElementK and classroom activities. Students will also explore Photoshop, FrontPage and the use of Palm Pilots. Students work independently and are responsible for completing the software applications and for their conduct/ work ethic. A course fee is assessed. |

| PREREQUISITE:
Accounting 1
Students will build on the concepts learned in accounting 1 by completing a business accounting simulation. They will also learn to keep records for a corporation including stock records, figuring dividends, notes receivable, notes payable, and computing depreciation. Students utilize computers and will have access to automated accounting software for completing accounting projects. A course fee is assessed. |

Students will also explore Access. This class also completes a community computer basics project. | PREREQUISITE:
Computer Applications 1 and 2 (Although geared for juniors and seniors,
freshman and sophomores may take with instructor permission only!)
Students must have a B in English. Class size will be limited to 12
students.
This class is a year long, self-paced computer course. The main objective of the course is to learn web page design and to help maintain the Wapakoneta High School and Middle School web site. In addition, students will work with "real world" software such as FrontPage, Photoshop and Publisher in individual and group settings to create presentations, brochures, flyers, and pamphlets as needed by the school and community. Students' grades will be based on their ability to manage projects from start to finish and the demonstration and implementation of these projects. Conduct and work ethic will also be used in assessing student grades and progress. A course fee is assessed. |

| The
focus of this class is to train students to choose a career, as well as
to develop strategies to become successful and to maintain employment.
Numerous research activities will be used to acclimate students to the
college experience and the variety of occupations available. The Ohio Career
Information System and the TOPS program will be used to further
research careers and higher education.
Computer and Internet access will be an integral part of this course. Specific topics include: Resume Building, The Interview Process, Entrepreneur and Small Business Ownership, Stock Market Research and Competition, Personal Finance, ACT preparation, Financial Aid and Making the Right Choices. |
