APOLLO CAREER CENTER
1. Any student in the participating schools who is interested in attending Apollo may apply for admission. In applying, a student will request admission to a specific program, but will be encouraged to indicate an alternate program, which is of interest. Student must have a minimum of 7 credits.
2. Each home school is guaranteed one student in each program.
3. If a program is over-enrolled, the following procedure will be followed:
a. A credit check will be given, and any student that has a deficiency will be offered the opportunity to enroll in another program with an opening or not attend Apollo.
b. If still over-enrolled, the final decision will be based on attendance, interest, related course work, grades, and input from the home school instructors.
4. All over-enrollments will be taken care of before a student who applied will be added to a class list.
Students enrolling, as juniors at Apollo in a two-year program will be able to earn fourteen (14) units of credit during the two-year period. Seven (7) of these credits will be in vocational education, one (1) credit each in math, science, history/government, and two (2) credits in English and elective courses. If the student has any credit deficiencies, he/she should choose elective courses, which will eliminate the deficiencies. If the student has no deficiencies in graduation requirements, he/she may select courses from the electives list according to student interest for enrichment purposes.
The Apollo school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:25 p.m. There is no tuition cost to the student or parents; however, in many programs the student will be required to purchase tools, uniforms, workbooks, safety glasses, work shoes, and any other items that are related to their particular vocational training. These purchased items become the property of the student for future use in their vocation.
